FIXED: Android WiFi Keeps Dropping

Please Note:
This fix applies to the issue where the WiFi on your Android device randomly disconnects and reconnects to your WiFi network. The problem usually starts when you buy a new device or a new Wireless router.

Fix:
The problem is not your device, as such deleting the network and re-adding it, clearing your WiFi cache or installing a third party WiFi client will not fix this issue. The problem is with your router. If your router supports 2.4ghz AND 5ghz your Android device will constantly fluctuate between the two of them, when it fluctuates our WiFi won't work on your device until it has reconnected.

I noticed that my LG G4 wouldn't keep a steady connection to my wireless network when I switched from an old Netgear router to a BT HomeHub. To fix this issue go into your routers settings and either disable the 5ghz network or separate the 2.5ghz and 5ghz into two different networks with different passwords and only connect to one of them on your Android device. The problem should now be fixed.

In some versions of Android you can tell your device to prefer 2.5ghz or 5ghz networks, I believe Google have removed this in Nougat (7.0) and it is not available on LG devices.

  9. Thank you so much for this blog, certain PS's enabled on windows 10 come with SIM cards that allow you to connect to a mobile network and configure cellular settings in windows 10. This means that you can get over a network wherever you have a cellular signal.
