Where to Buy Cheap Used Macs

Eight years ago I bought my first Mac and have since moved through a number of desktop and laptops from PowerPC to Intel. However, I have bought very few of these Macs new and mostly use eBay to pick up new computers. This does present some issues, how do you know which sellers are reputable and worthy of your hard earned cash? Below are a number of eBay accounts that I have either used or thoroughly vetted and deemed safe. Please be aware as I am UK based I cannot guarantee these sellers will ship internationally.

  • MacBank Home - A great source for all things Mac, reasonable prices and a huge selection which is updated weekly. They also offer Apple displays and adapters
  • Hoxton Macs - A little more expensive than MacBank, but still reasonable and have a selection that fits a wide array of budgets
  • MacBank Pro - This is the 'Pro' arm of MacBank, basically it just sells Mac Pro's and parts for them. Sometimes they have Xserves at good prices
  • Remac Spares - A few weeks ago they had dozens of MacBooks and some iMacs, they seem slower to stock than MacBank and Hoxton, but have a few good deals
  • UsMac2014 - A huge selection of used Apple devices at reasonable prices, definitely worth a look
  • Apple - I know cheap is in the title and this isn't an eBay shop, but Apple do offer some great deals on used Macs. You can also get Apple Care on these Macs and they come in Apple packaging
This list will be updated as I become aware of more sellers
