Can't Install Windows 10 Update 1511? You're Not Alone

UPDATE: This issue has now been resolved

When devices like the HP Stream 11 launched we were told this wasn't a return to the dark netbook days of old, rather this was a brave new world of low-cost, low-powered machines that were specially built for our more cloud centric world. Unfortunately 'cheap' devices like the HP Stream 11 have a major flaw. The 32GB of internal storage. While this is enough if all you do is online add in a browser, MS office, spotify etc. and pretty soon you'll be running out of space. While installing Windows 10 was solved by Microsoft cleverly allowing the use of external storage. With the 1511 update this option doesn't seem to work any more.

Attempting to install the 1511 Update for Windows 10 results in an error message telling you either to run disk cleanup or use external storage. Selecting to use internal storage results in nothing. Unfortunately I can't offer a fix as there currently isn't one.

This will be kept up to date as the situation develops
