FIX: Ubuntu WiFi Connected but Pages Won't Load (HP Stream 11)

If you are having trouble with WiFi on your HP Stream 11 (running Ubuntu 14.04) I have finally found a fix that has lasted much longer than the fix previously listed on this blog. Now my only remaining issue is to get the trackpad working.

To fix WiFi:

Open Terminal and enter:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:hanipouspilot/rtlwifi

Then

sudo apt-get update

Finally

sudo apt-get install rtlwifi-new-dkms linux-firmware

Then reboot your machine. WiFi should now function as intended. You can see the original Ask Ubuntu post HERE

Please note these instructions are for the first edition HP Stream 11 (released 2014) as such I do not know if they will work on the newer model
